SEO for electricians
We asked ChatGPT to name the best electrician in 40 American cities. It named 5.8 businesses per answer. That is the whole shortlist a customer sees.
What our study found for electricians
Across 40 questions in 40 cities, ChatGPT named 231 electricians — an average of 5.8 per question. We could match 42% of them to a real company in that city in our own database of 312,000+ US local businesses.
Why electricians get missed
It is almost never the work. It is that the website does not say, in a form a machine can read, what the business does and where it does it. The most common things we find on electricians' sites:
- A homepage titled "Home". That is the headline Google prints as your blue link. It should say your trade and your town.
- No description. Google writes its own from scraped text, and it reads badly.
- No business record Google can read. Your address, hours and services exist on the page for a human, but not as data.
- A phone number that is not tappable. On a phone that is the difference between a call and a bounce.
What we do about it
We fix those on your actual website — rewrite the title, write the description, add the structured data, make the number tappable — and then keep doing it every month as things change. $99.99 to do it once, $129.99 a month to have it handled. No contract, no sales call.
