Should I optimize for mobile or desktop?

Mobile, period. Google indexes the mobile version of your site (called "mobile-first indexing") since 2019. Desktop is a secondary view at this point. Test by opening your site on a real phone, not just resizing your browser. Common mobile issues: forms too small to tap, menus that don't open, text smaller than 16px, slow image loading.
